'The most important aspect of patient care is... caring about the patient. When you seek out a surgeon, voice your concerns and invest your trust in a plastic surgeon who takes the time to listen to what you want.'
-Dr. Adam Cohen
Dr. Adam C. Cohen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Magna Cum Laude, with honors in Biochemistry. He went on to attend the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City earning his M.D. degree. Dr. Cohen completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and was Board Certified in 1999. Following his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center, he completed a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the renowned Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, Kentucky, where the first hand transplant was performed in North America.
Dr. Cohen has traveled internationally in Asia, Africa and Central America, performing free plastic surgery to correct cleft lips, burns and hand deformities. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic surgery, performing hand, aesthetic, breast, and general reconstructive surgery.
After training, Dr. Cohen joined Ohio Plastic Surgeons, in Columbus Ohio, where he began to cultivate his skill as a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon. In 2003 he was appointed to the faculty of Indiana University School of Medicine and joined University Plastic Surgeons teaching, training, and practicing the science and art of plastic surgery.
Believing the hand is the seat of one's soul, Dr. Cohen's interests emanate from hand and microsurgery. Incorporating the patience, precision, and functionality of hand surgery, he applies those skills to aesthetic rejuvenation and general reconstruction. Found more often at the bedside than the seaside, and in the operating room than the clubhouse boardroom, he is aware that patients don't go to the doctor seeking a friend. They go to get better. Dr. Cohen's patients get both.
